I did it once and met my creepy stalker ex.
I guess it could have happened anywhere, but I’ve shied away from online dating after that.

Online dating isn’t for everyone. Some people just do and work better finding other activities that involve singles. When you look for someone you want to find a common interest. The online sites show and match you sometimes to someone with that common interest. Yet there is still a lot of worry in regards to who that person is. Is their picture really them or is it recent.
When you “get out there” you get to feel the chemistry that is sometimes hard to feel online. Plus if you have a great personality and people are drawn to you, that is pretty much impossible to happen online.
By getting out, you don’t have to go to bars. Check out some online websites that are designed for events. You aren’t actually meeting anyone online, but you are finding about events you might be interested in.
These events can be anything from speed dating, outdoor activities and something as simple as a singles social event. Social events can be happy hours, concerts, bowling, etc.
Online dating isn’t all bad though. If it is for you then you might check out perfectmatch.com and if you are looking for a free one, there is Plentyoffish.com.
The rule that you get what you pay for has never been more true with online dating. I personally suggest paying for a good service that is quality. You want something that helps match you with others and more than just common interest. More personality.
For example: Let’s say you are doing a search to see who is around you with an online service. You skip over that person. Then you have the website tell you that you have a lot in common. The chances that you will take a second look at that person and give them a chance is much greater. At the very least you actually take the time to view their profile.

I was always told that you should go have fun, live your life, and do the things you like to do and you will meet the right person doing those things. You don’t meet someone at a baseball game if you hate baseball, ya know?

My opinion on this is, if it works for you, go for it, my son met a fantastic girl through the internet , and they are both very happy together.

I don’t like it, and never did it. Who knows who you’re chatting with. It’s easy for people to trick you online.
